9:02 pm - Let's have a party/get-together?

It's a pity this blog hasn't been active. I loved reading the whole shebang.
I suck my thumb so that's why I was googling the subject.
I wonder if there's any tsers out there who live on Long Island, or at least nearby. I'd love to have a get-together. I think it may be fun, or at least interesting.
I'd like to see what others out there think of this idea. What, for instance, would we talk about, do, etc.? Where's a good place to have it: somewhere public like a restaurant, or a park? Or, in someone's home where we may feel more open about sharing stuff?
Any other ideas?
I'm not sure if anyone is still reading the messages here, but what the heck, I'll post and see what comes of it.

10:36 pm - TS Movie Review: Baby Doll

Baby Doll (1956) is the Tennessee Williams tale of a child bride, her quite frustrated husband, and how their world turned upside down very quickly. The movie's big hook for getting attention is the fact that Baby Doll sleeps in a crib (with the slats down) and sucks her thumb. While she's only shown in the crib in the beginning, the crib is brought up later, noting "how sad" the empty nursery is the only furnished room in the house.

It's a very amazing movie, complete with a few haunting visuals staged in just the right places, even more haunting because of the black and white. I would say Baby Doll is more "doll" than "baby doll". She's a cute, naieve thing, but she's not (completely) innocent and doesn't suck her thumb much. We only see thumbsucking in the only scene (at the beginning) with her in the crib. I think it's silly that the crib is mentioned multiple times, yet the thumbsucking is never stated in the dialogue. She looks to be quite the natural, so it was sad to not see it reappear later.

Bottom line: thumbsucking when female lead is introduced, never mentioned or shown again later.

Is anyone else investigating thumbsucking in movies? I've mentioned that I got Thumbsucker on dvd, but I've been a bit scared to watch (the plot is based around what happens when this guy stops sucking his thumb).

Also somewhat related, does anyone know if the website in the community info will be updated again? Just curious.

1:32 am - TS Movie Review: Wristcutters, a Love Story

Screenshot and previous post discussing the movie

Wristcutters: a Love Story was a great movie, certainly hit home in several ways. As excited as I got over the scene in the screenshot I posted, where the leading lady sucks her thumb as she sleeps, I was quite sad at how short the scene was. Also, it was the only scene where thumbsucking was featured. The characters didn't discuss it later in the movie, nor did they show any more ts-ing.

Overall, it's a great movie, fairly light-hearted considering all of the characters are dead in the limbo world after committing suicide. There's even a black hole that lives under the passenger seat in their car. Then again, that's not all that surprising, given how many things get lost in people's cars. Very sweet ending, great soundtrack, even features Tom Waits. But, alas, not enough ts-ing.

Bottom line: brief thumbsucking about a quarter of the way through, but never mentioned again later

1:24 am - TS Movie Review: The Big Sleep

The Big Sleep is a bit of a mystery movie from the 1940s, starring the infamous Bogart and Lauren Bacall. (I'm probably not spelling names right, but it's after 1am, so it's not too important.) The ts-ing site that's linked in our community's user info mentioned that there was a character who sucked her thumb in this movie. She's not a major character, so there isn't a lot of screen time. From what I did manage to see, she's not really sucking her thumb; she's biting the tip of it. Thus, if you were thinking of watching the movie for the ts-ing, don't bother; it's not really there.

On the other hand, it was a pretty good movie in general. To be honest, I just watched Iron Man (the first one) for the first time today and watched The Big Sleep afterwards. I think I got just as caught up in each movie. There isn't a whole lot of great effects or gushing blood in The Big Sleep, but it's got a great plot. I mean, if you enjoy the plot twists of the Law & Order shows, then you'll love this.

Bottom line: no thumbsucking - just brief thumb biting

Anyone know when this photo was taken and what for (like a movie promotion)? I'd guess mid-1980s, but I really don't know a lot about the actress.

5:51 pm - Intro post and a couple of questions

I love reading this community, even though it's not very active. I've been spying on it for years, and I thought it was time to post an intro.

I am 20 yrs old, and have been sucking my thumb since I was 12, when a traumatic event happened in my life. Whenever I am stressed or tired my thumb goes straight in my mouth, and I find myself sucking it a lot of the time. I have had many blankets over the years, but my current one is one my partner knitted for me and I love it a lot. My partners are very excepting of my thumb-sucking, and I do it around them all the time. I wouldn't have it any other way, really! My parents are a different story, and I'm pretty sure they think I've given it up.

I'm at work just now, and I have a bad cold and I just want to curl up somewhere quiet with my blanket and my thumb. I'm sure you guys know what that's like!

Just some things I was wondering:
Did anyone else start sucking their thumb at a later age, like me?
Does anyone like sucking on a pacifier/soother?
If you have a partner, are they accepting of your tsing?
Does anyone suck their finger rather than their thumb?

I saw the challenge in an earlier post of taking pictures of tsing, so I'll have to give that a shot! Thank you for reading. :)

6:20 pm - Heartbreaking

I went on holiday to India for 3weeks and when I came back, I found my pillow (my security blanket type thing if you will) missing. MISSING I TELLS YOU!!

This was the most heart breaking thing in the world. I need that pillow to suck my thumb. I called my mum and she told me SHE THREW IT AWAY!!!!

I CRIED MY EYES OUT FOR ABOUT HALF AND HOUR. At least that's what it felt like. Heartbreaking tears. Until my dad asked me what was wrong. I told him he wouldn't understand, that my mum had thrown away the thing I loved the most in the material world. It was like losing my best friend.

My dad called my mum and said what have you done?

My mum confessed to trying to get rid of it but really just hid it from me hoping to cut my attachment to it.

How cruel can you be?

Just goes to show how attached I have become to my pillow. It's already been changed once. That was the hardest time I had to go through. I spent a whole day crying for my 1st lost pillow. I don't know if I'd recover from another loss. I know it's not anything major. But I thought I'd share this with you and ask...do you have something you use/need when you are thumbsucking? Something you couldn't bear to be parted from?

I hope none of you have to experience this.

11:44 am - Daily Deviation on deviantART today

Myspace Camera Whore by ~adamrobertson on deviantART

I don't think the model is a natural, but it's nice to see another person in the act. So far, I haven't seen any comments on the page about the thumbsucking. Someone did ask where the lingerie came from, which I'm wondering as well.

11:01 pm - not going to stop!

I just found this, and thanked the higher powers I'm not alone!

I'm nearly 20, and I've sucked my thumb my whole life.

Mum used to tell me all sorts of things, like your frount teeth will go black and die if you don't stop.. they never did.
She also used to get really angry, dump my thumb in all sorts of things to stop me sucking it! But I wouldn't stop.

One day she put it in mouthwash when i was young, but I picked up on it and didn't mind the new taste, haha! [told me it was posion].
I just feel like eventually I will have to stop one day, or get braces. Or people will find out and make me feel awful, but all my friends know, and they love it, so does my boyfriend. No one cares and I'm open about it.

I guess it's just a part of me, and I'm sick of hearing it's wrong. Has anyone seen the movie
Thumbsucker? Interesting watch.

I think my family gave up, ripping it out of my mouth. My mother yelling and scaring the heck out of me, sometimes you don't even realise you are doing it. But i couldn't sleep without it.

There is really interesting theories about thumbsucking, well that I've read. Has anyone else read any or are bothered by any?

4:38 pm - Hi there. :D

I'm Julie.

So, I've been a thumb sucker since the day I was born. I rejected a pacifier and went straight for my right thumb. Been there ever since. My mom tried to get me to stop when I broke my arm at five. She failed, miserably. I read the book in the dentist's office about how thumb sucking would give you buck teeth, but it was pretty much a lie.

I'm 20 and I still suck my thumb, and it's nice to have kindred spirits. My mom always bitches about my thumb sucking, "GET IT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH" is what I hear most often. My brother just hits me.

What about you guys? What do you tell people who chide or chastise you about it?

I always say "Hey, I could have worse habits, like cocaine."

2:04 pm - sharing

So i forgot all bout the pictures of me Tsucking, i thought i would share. im 25 and have been a Tser all my life. I| have a nylon blanket called squilky, it comes everywhere with me. During particularlly stressful patches ill even cut bits off to carry around with me. Spent most of my childhood being told it bad, and most of my adult life accepting and researching why i do it. Im happy with me. I like how Tsucking clams me down. I habve been lucky and all my partners have been supportive. When it comes to meeting new people, when they are going to be in an intimate setting with me, such as watching TV i always bring it up, "just to let know i Tsuck and that funny squeaking noise you will hear soemtimes is my squilky".
i only find it hard with partners friends and family becuase i dont want them to have to deal with embrassing questions.
I have found my self recently being more confident about it and Tsucking in public, although im  always awere if people start to stare. so i just keep my thumb in and stare back :)
The top picture was taklen from  a TV show called Sex inspectors i did about 4 years ago. I was go flattered that thye included in TS stuff. I spoke to Tracy cox about it during the filming ( CCTV in the house for 2 weeks)  and voiced my consern on if there would be a problem. even though she had watched hours of the tapes, she hadnt even noticed :)

Anyways Keep on suck

11:28 pm - intro

i am 17 years old. and i have sucked my thumb since i was a little kid.
i dont know if i started from birth.
but i have been constantly doing it ever since.
my parents chided me all throughout school, but i kept up the tradition.
i also have a blankie, its pilly and ragged and i love it.
i have never had any problems with my teeth, nor do i have a callous.

i am in college now, and i still suck my thumb, all my friends know,
and comfortably chide me, but not to hard, for they know that i wont stop.

why stop.
my heart wants to to suck my thumb,
there is a little tug there, that is instantly released when i put my thumb to my mouth.
whenever i am with my parents i feel like a dog about sucking my thumb,
my father has grown accustomed to thumb  the sound of my thumb, and
if he thinks he can hear it will say, "thumb!" or, "thumb: out"
and the second my mother sees my thumb in my mouth, she will tell me i am tired,
and i need to go to bed.

as though i do not know myself,
or as if i cannot realize when i am tired.

i know this, and i know that i love sucking my thumb.
it feels like home.

2:11 pm - Back in the habit
a_brat_princess Hello all. I'm totally new to this comm. but it's nice to see it's existance. I sucked my thumb from the time I could find it, until I was about nine. My parents tried everything to make me stop. Since then, it's slipped back in a few times, but never been a habit.

Over the past 6 months or so, I've become more active in the BDSM community. On Sunday, I was playing quite hard, and as soon as I came down off the equipment BOOM my thumb was in my mouth. Since then I've been doing it almost daily.

I guess I'm a proud thumbsucker. I don't really want to stop. LOL Now it sounds like Thumbsuckers Anonymous. My name is Nicky, and I'm a thumbsucker.

7:02 pm - Regressing
abyguy when i get sleepy or when i start to feel like a cold is coming on i tend to regress without thinking about it. i can get pouty or start to use babyish sounding words...my voice even gets more boyish sounding. once in a while my thumb even finds its way into my mouth. i know that many adults experience some type of regression to a more childlike way of doing things under certain circumstances...whether or not they are "into" the age regression seen. is it true for you??

11:15 am - Thumbsucking sleep study

Ok, sooo...

I don't suck my thumb because I think it's cool. I suck my thumb because as SOON as I fall asleep it goes in my mouth. Try as hard as I can I can not break this habit. My fiancé knows and chuckles about it...it's just a part of what makes me me.

Here's the dilemma...

Tonight I go in for my first ever sleep study. I have to be there at 11pm, they are going to monitor me...WATCH ME SLEEP. There is no way I can hide this. It is bound to happen. I called an asked if they just hook you up to the electrodes or if they actually watch you. The ever nice nurse on the phone told me not to worry, they don't stay by my bed...that they use a camera and monitor any movement from the room next door.

Any movement like a 27 year old sticking her thumb in her mouth? Grrrrreat!

Has anyone ever had to go through an embarrassing situation such as this? Any solutions as to how to hide it?

Ever been caught and lived through the embarrassment?
